About Laurel Run

Laurel Run is named for Laurel Hotelling, a woman with Down syndrome who works at The Resource Center. Laurel’s parents, Elaine and Wayne Hotelling, started Laurel Run to celebrate the potential of people with disabilities like Laurel, who can accomplish great things if given the chance. In 2008 we added a Dice Run to the other Laurel Run events, which include a running race, a fitness walk, children’s runs, and “Laurel’s Lap” (for anyone with a disability), followed by a party in the Village Park. All of these events take place the morning of the Dice Run, so arrive early to register and check out everything that is going on.

Money raised through Laurel Run goes to TRC Foundation to enhance employment and work training opportunities for adults with disabilities at The Resource Center, so that they can know the feelings of pride, satisfaction and self-worth that come from earning real money for performing meaningful work. Laurel Run proceeds also are used to support The Resource Center’s disability awareness and prevention efforts.
